Festival of Eid ul -Adha At a Glance

Eid ul Adha is the second biggest Muslim festival after Eid ul — Fitr. Eid ul — Adha is also known as Bakri Eid.
Eid in Arabic means “festival” and “Adha or Zuha” means “sacrifice”. Eid ul — Adha is celebrated to commemorate the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was willing to offer his son Ismael as an act of obedience to the Almighty. Allah was so happy with Ibrahim that at that very moment Allah replaced Ismael with a ram as an offering. Thereafter, it became customary to bring ship/ goat/cow/buffalo/camel as offering through a usual “Halal” style on this day. Post the sacrifice, the offering is always divided into three portions — one for the devote and his family, the second portion for the relatives and close friends, and the third portion for the needy /poor people.
Eid al — Adha falls on every 10th day of “ Dhul Hijjah” and is the last lunar month in the Muslim calendar. It is also celebrated approximately 70 days after the end of “Ramadan “.
Eid ul Adha is usually celebrated for three days in most parts of the world. A special prayer is offered in various mosques and people hug each other as an expression of brotherhood.
Let us all celebrate Eid ul -Adha as a symbol of brotherhood among the people of all religions. Let us Respect Peace, Humanity, and Equality on the eve of the great festival of Eid ul — Adha.
Eid Mubarak to All. #sacrifice #prayer #brotherhood #respect #peace
